Location

Out on the outskirts of Lake Placid, this enormous resort isn't as close to the ski area or the downtown area but offers a self-contained world of entertainment. A shuttle is available to the downtown area and the private beach, which is very convenient.

• Within walking distance: A couple of cafes and a mini-golf course, plus some shops
• Transportation: You are going to want a car to visit the ski resort, but if you just want a fun vacation, you can rely on the shuttle and on-site amenities
