With Yellowstone National Park on one side and Grand Teton National Park on the other, Jackson Hole is slap bang in the middle of an enormous natural wilderness. Luckily Jackson Hole airport is just 10 mi north of the town of Jackson and 21 mi (and roughly an hour away) from the resort, with most hotels offering transfer service. With 11 non-stop flights with carriers like Delta Airlines, American Airlines, United Airlines, Frontier Airlines, and SkyWest Airlines, chances are you’ll find an airport near you that flies to Jackson Hole.
If you want to find a cheaper option, the next best airport to fly to is Salt Lake International. From here it’s just under 280 mi to Jackson Hole, around a 5-hour drive away. Rent a car at the airport, or book a shuttle. You'll save big bucks if you had planned to rent a car anyway in Jackson, and when inclement weather hits, flights are more likely to land in Salt Lake City.
Denver International is also another option though less ideal as it’s 520 mi away and you’re likely to encounter dangerous road conditions or heavy traffic that the route out of Denver is notorious for.
Shuttle Bus
If you fly into Jackson Hole Airport then you’ll find the suitably named Jackson Hole Shuttle will get you there. Expect to pay $30 per person one-way for the entire journey to Teton Village which sits at the base of the resort.
If you touch down in Salt Lake City, then the Mountain States Express will transport you from the airport to Jackson in roughly 5 hours, at a cost of $75 per person. The only problem with this bus is that it leaves just once a day, and at around midday, so you’ll lose a day on the slopes to the road.
Taxi
There are dozens of taxi companies operating in and around Jackson Hole, so getting one from the local airport to your accommodation won’t be difficult. From Jackson Hole Airport to Teton Village you’re looking at roughly $70 one-way, and don’t expect to hail one down on the street. Instead call and order one; Snake River Taxi, Cowboy Cab, and Jackson Hole Taxi all do a great job.
Uber & Lyft
An even cheaper option for private transport from Jackson Hole Airport is with Uber or Lyft. Both of these services are available to use in and around the town of Jackson, so just check the app for availability. An UberX will cost roughly $45 from Jackson Hole Airport to Teton Village.
Car Rental
If you want your own wheels while in Jackson Hole, you’ll find rental car companies like Hertz, Budget, and Enterprise all operating at the airport. Just ask at the desks to find out what cars are available and the rates. For even more options just hop on the shuttle to downtown Jackson, where you’ll find offices for Dollar, Thrifty, Alamo, and National.
While having your own car is convenient, it’s not strictly necessary at Jackson Hole. Public transportation ferries skiers from the town to the slopes and everywhere in-between pretty efficiently. Make sure you’re prepared for ice if you do decide to drive around the area. If you’re driving from Salt Lake City, your two biggest things to watch out for on the road are cops (especially near Evanston, Wyoming) and deer!
